Service on Display

You’ll notice Flexpress is different the minute you walk into our lobby. Our people are easily accessible. So accessible, in fact, that you will find both Sandy, our CSR; and Philip, our manager, stationed right there when you walk in. Why? Because we believe in putting service front and center. No gatekeeper, no barriers, just quick and friendly answers. The difference doesn’t stop with Philip and Sandy’s customer-friendly presence. Right behind Philip’s desk is a window to our bindery with a great view of the inner workings of our bindery on display for all to see. Most printers prefer to keep this area at the back of the building, out of sight. Perhaps because they adhere to the notion that much like sausage making, there are some things that are better appreciated when the process is unknown. We couldn’t disagree more. We have the window to show off our people and our process. It is not only fascinating to watch projects come together but we also think it provides an opportunity to see who is doing the work and realize the pride our employees take in their efforts. At Flexpress we see this important step in the production process as … Continue reading

Are QR Codes Here to Save Print?

Are QR Codes Here to Save Print?

It seems many pundits are ready to write print media off as a dying industry. Newspaper and magazine subscriptions are dwindling. The post office is having financial problems. eReaders are cutting into traditional book sales. Marketing dollars are being spent in a wider variety of ways as the Internet and electronic devices continue to offer up new ways to reach consumers. Yes, it is an undeniable fact that new technologies are changing the way marketing is done. But that isn’t all bad news for print. Take for instance the emergence of QR (Quick Read) Codes. QR Codes were created in 1994 for use in automotive industry inventory control. Now, it seems, those crazy quilt configurations of black and white squares just might be print’s new best friend, if not actual savior. It is a safe bet to say everyone has seen one. The number of people using them grows daily. A study released in June 2011 by comScore found that the users were more likely to be men (60.5% of scanners) and aged 18 to 34 (53.4%) and have a household income of $100,000 or above (36.1%). The premise seems simple enough in a magical teleporter kind of way. Use … Continue reading

Thoughts on Labor Day

Monday, Sept. 5, is the 129th anniversary of the first Labor Day celebrated in America. With our current global economy in mind, it is even more important than ever to thank the good folks who keep our businesses running. So on this holiday, as we celebrate the contributions that workers make to the strength of our country, we’d like to say thank you to those whose labor makes our company stronger. At Flexpress we see the dedication our employees put into their jobs every day and want to send out a warm “thank you” to each one. We also want to thank our customers for partnering with us. We strive daily to earn the trust you put in us to deliver what you need to keep your businesses strong. And, of course, our vendors deserve a big nod of appreciation for working hard to provide the equipment and materials we need to do our jobs. It truly is a team effort and we sincerely hope everyone enjoys the rewards of our collaborative labor. To all, we say “Sit back and enjoy a much deserved rest on Monday.  You’ve earned it!”

We’ve also made some improvements to our quote request and file upload pages. And the new site has links to our blog, Facebook, and Twitter pages because more than anything, we want to keep in touch and listen to what you have to say. Move Over, Pulp Fiction

Move Over, Pulp Fiction

Plain vanilla. White bread. Borrrinng. Digital printing means being limited to a narrow choice of stock, right? Many people think that due to short runs and the very process of digital printing, that the only paper choices are white coated or white uncoated. It’s time to put that myth to rest. Those days are long gone at Flexpress. The truth is, digital press capabilities have improved dramatically over the years, and continue to do so. Our Xerox iGens can print on gloss, matte, dull and silk coated papers as well as uncoated textured and specialty stocks, even recycled. Additionally – and we are really excited about this – we have an agreement with a paper dealer that makes it possible for us to provide specialty papers no matter how short the run. And by specialty papers, we mean it. This exclusive agreement is like a super nova in terms of opening the design possibilities for digital projects. Seriously! Announcements, invitations, pocket folders and presentation kits can now be printed in whatever quantity you need, on the stock you really want, without sacrificing your creative vision or blowing your budget with minimum carton requirements. We offer a wide assortment of colors, weights … Continue reading

Seize the Die!

Seize the Die!

Some print projects call for something out of the box. Others call for something in a box. Fortunately, at Flexpress we can help you with both. We have an extensive library (50 and counting) of dies available to our customers, so feel free to stretch those boundaries, round those corners, and add some pop to your next project. Customized shapes, pop-ups and promo items are a great way to stand out from the crowd and get more bang for your marketing buck. And speaking of bucks, we don’t charge for dies we already have, only new custom ones. In the case of existing dies you pay only for the cutting charges. If you have a particular size or shape in mind feel free to ask if we have it available. To ensure a smooth printing experience we can provide a template for your design team. Since all printing presses can have slight shifts – even our iGens can move up to 1/16th of an inch – we highly recommend following the live area and bleed area guides on the templates. As for the dies themselves, we have door hangers, playing cards, popcorn boxes, coasters, bottle neck hangers, pop-up business card … Continue reading
