Take Your Dog to Work Day 2014
We celebrated PSI’s Take Your Dog To Work Day on Friday, June 20th and had a great time with our furry pals. It is a day to raise awareness of the many benefits of companion pets and encourage the adoption of shelter and recue dogs. Of course, as many of you who have visited our office know, every day is TYDTW Day here at Flexpress. Our Head Houndcho, Millie, is a permanent fixture in the office and others visit on occasion. They love turning on the charm in return for treats up and down the hall. But we have to admit, the dogs aren’t just here for their own benefit. We love having them here and they bring us benefits too. There’s just something about a wagging tail to put the world right. Because it was a special day we had a hot dog luncheon to welcome Tank, Maggie and Jackie as they joined Millie at the office. Not all of our dogs were able to make it for the party so we printed special canvas prints of all their photos and hung them up for the festivities. It was almost like having them there as they watched over the … Continue reading

Happy Earth Day!

Earth Day will be observing its 42nd year of raising environmental awareness on Sunday, April 22, 2012. As spring beckons us outside to enjoy nature, it is an excellent time to stop and reflect on what we can do for the environment. It is even better when we can make changes that lessen our impact on a daily basis. We are glad to say that great strides are being made by the printing industry to that end. When people think of the environmental impact of printing they tend to think in terms of paper. This makes sense because paper is the most publicly visible component. Paper mills are indeed working hard to make positive changes through the management of sustainable forests using responsible logging practices and limiting the use of herbicides and pesticides. The Forest Stewardship Council was established to implement a stringent chain of custody procedures to ensure the cleanest, most energy efficient processing and manufacturing possible. And of course recycling remains an important part of their efforts. What is less publicized is the “greening” of the actual process of printing. Traditional offset printers are switching from petroleum-based inks to vegetable-based inks such as soybean, linseed and flax. All of … Continue reading

Do Good and Feel Good on Oct. 28th

It isn’t uncommon for printers to be called upon to donate paper and printing for charitable causes. While pro bono printing is certainly one way to help, we know it is more fun and satisfying when everyone can pitch in and make a difference. It creates a “good energy buzz” to be around other like-minded people working towards a positive goal. That is why we are teaming with CitySquare for a Donation Drive on Friday, October 28, 2011. We will be collecting gently used clothing, housewares, electronics, furniture, and yes, even vehicles for the CitySquare Thrift Store. We will have a collection truck and attendant in our parking lot at 4410 Spring Valley Road in Dallas all day to make drop offs easy. If you can’t make it on the 28th but would like to drop your donations off beforehand we will be more than happy to store them until then. Why CitySquare? We believe they are one of the most effective non-profit outreach ministries in Dallas. Simply put, they don’t merely provide handouts, they address the root causes of poverty in Dallas and work on eliminating them through multiple channels. Among the services and programs provided are medical clinics/pharmacy, legal … Continue reading
